Wimbledon White 1966 Mustang with a Sprint Package 200 A, 120 hp (at 4400 rpm), 200 cubic inch, inline 6 cylinder engine. Due to the popular demand of the 289 cubic inch V8, 1966 Ford introduced the "Sprint Package 200" followed by what we think might have been an "A" for automatic transmission and "B" for manual. Ford was not very proud of this solution to the engine shortage so the Sprint Package threw in several standard option upgrades for free (center console, courtesy lights, side accent paint stripe color matched with the car's interior, and the deluxe wire-style wheel covers) and advertised the package as a "Limited Edition". The engine on all models came with decal that read "Mustang Powered Sprint 200" on the chrome air cleaner. Most books have the "A" Sprint option listed as Manual transmission and "B" as Automatic. This car is an "A" model according to the invoice and appears to have an automatic transmission although the data tag is hard to verify. We also have a 1968 Sprint with the same situation but the invoice clearly states Sprint "A" and automatic transmission.

White 1966 Mustang hardtop owned by Jamie Wilske from Urbana, Illinois. Under the hood is a 302ci 2v V8 engine. Jamie shares,
"I bought this car from a collector in September 2009. Overall already in great shape! I have been modifying the engine - replaced valve covers and air cleaner to chrome, replaced distributor cap to a clear blue cap, replaced spark plug wires to a hi performance blue, replaced the spark plugs at the same time, placed some stickers in engine and trunk to original, replaced radiator cap with a blue cap, placed a blue cap over vacuum line off distributor, replaced solenoid and battery. Future replacements: radiator, alternator, water pump, balancer, change intake manifold to headers, starter, carburetor, rims and tires from 14 to 15-inch, radio and antenna, carpet, seats, and oil pan. Just to name a few."

Wimbledon White 1966 Mustang hardtop owned by Herve Winckel from France. Herve tells us,
"This Mustang was born in California where she stood for nearly 40 years. Then it was imported to Europe by Holland, and was bought by a French man in the north of France. He conserved her for two years, sold her to my neighbor in Chalon-sur-Sane and I bought her in the summer of 2011." It still has it's original 289ci V8 and an automatic transmission. The data plate is "65 A M 22 06G 72 6 6". 65 is for the hardtop coupe body style. B is for the standard body trim. M is for Wimbledon White. 22 is for the blue with blue trim interior. 06G is for the assembly date of July 6th. 72 is for the San Jose ordering district. The first 6 is for 2.8 rear end gear. The second 6 is for the C4 automatic transmission.

Wimbledon White 1966 Mustang GT-350 clone owned by Domenic Saia from Coatesville, Pennsylvania. It has a 289ci V8 engine. Domenic adds,
"Complete professional restoration. All Shelby equipment is there; alloy pan, valve covers, Cobra intake, and SS exhaust system with SS headers. It has new tires, lowered suspension, Magnum 500 Shelby wheels, SS disc brakes, and a 4-speed top loader. This car has no issues. It is one of the best replica's I have seen. "

Have you ever seen a chopped 1966 Mustang hardtop? I haven't until I found this one at the 2010 Mustang and Ford car show at Uftring Ford in East Peoria, Illinois. Check out the tiny rear quarter windows. This car has a huge blown engine in it too!

At least 50 of these blue and white 1966 Mustang hardtops were given out by the Player's cigarette company in many separate sweepstake in Quebec, Manitoba, Ontario, and Alberta between October 1965 and September of 1966. All Mustang has the 200 cubic inch six cylinder engine, 3 speeds manual transmission, full wheel covers, and AM radio. The Blue and White exterior paint matched the Player's cigarette package. We think the blue is 1966 Nightmist Blue which is very dark and Wimbledon White. We also have
several newspaper advertisements for this promotion as well as many of the winners. This set of photos was submitted to us from a viewer as well as the first newspaper article in the second set.
