It took a few years and now we have a project car. She sure draws a lot of attention being the only purple pony around. This 1997 Mustang Saleen S-281 Cobra convertible speedster is painted Extreme Rainbow. Extreme Rainbow is a $11,000+ special color that Saleen offered many years. The paint process was 4-coats dark blue, color sanded, 3-coats of Extreme Rainbow, color sanded again, followed by an additional 2-coats of Extreme Rainbow, and then 4-coats of urethane clear. The finish then received a final wet-sand by hand and polishing, resulting in the exceptional show quality finish achieved. This is Saleen factory #173 vehicle for 1997. Besides the unusual paint, this one was also ordered with a Supercharger!
