(1 photo of a 1966 Emberglo Orange Mustang Sprint Convertible) Emberglo 1966 Mustang Sprint 200 convertible with a 120hp (at 4400rpm), 200 cubic inch, 1 barrel, inline 6 cylinder engine. Promoted as the Millionth Mustang Success Sale, the Sprint 200 limited edition package was offered mid 1966 when Ford worried about inventory problems with the first V8 level upgrade 289ci engine. The Sprint 200 was a sport package specifically designed for the base 200ci 6 cylinder engine which were plentiful. Other Sprint options included center floor console; painted side accent stripes (color matched with the car's interior); deletion of the chrome rear quarter ornaments; and a set of deluxe 48 spoke, blue center wire-style wheel covers.

All Rainbow of Colors promotional Mustangs were special order built in the San Jose plant, and to this date we have found one's ordered in the Los Angeles, San Jose (also delivering to Honolulu Hawaii), and Salt Lake areas. The promotion offered a Rainbow of Colors such as Madagascar Orange, Whipped Cream, Spanish Gold, Dandelion Yellow, Hot Pink, Caribbean Coral, Forest Green, Sierra Blue, and Moss Green.

Mike writes: I bought this original 'Rainbow of Colors' car on-line about two years ago. The gentleman who restored this car initially intended to part it out. He opted to restore its original Calypso Coral special order paint (known as
Flower Power Orange in '68). Mike's 1968 Mustang was our Attitude Of The Week for February 1st, 2009.

Peter has identified several 1968 special order colors that the Shelby GT 500KR has been ordered in. This orange WT5158 is one of them. This was the first Mustang production year of the Grabber Orange color, the Shelby Mustangs used this color for the first time a year earlier. Unlike most 1970 Mach I's, the hood air scoop is functional due to the Super Cobra Jet engine underneath.
