(from page 9 of the 2001 Collection) The interior is mostly tan with brown on top of the dash and down the center. There is also brown accents on the door panels. Tan was a popular interior color in early 2000. It seemed as if all the cars on the lot had a tan interior.

(from page 9 of the 2001 Collection) Here is a close-up of the instrument panel. We have all the standard gauges. From left to right we have; fuel level, engine coolant temperature, speedometer, tach, alternator voltage level, and oil pressure. This Mustang is idling at about 1000rpm.

(from page 9 of the 2001 Collection) The vehicle certification tag is located on the back inner end of the driver's side door. It tells us about the colors and drivetrain options this car had when it left the factory.

(from page 11 of the 2001 Collection) This is the 2001 Mustang GT Bullitt hero promotional card. This car measures 8.5 by 11 inches and is folded to allow for 4 pages of print. Hero cards started with racing drivers and their cars and have been extended to promote sport cars from various manufacturers. This one features the first year of the Bullitt Mustang feature car which commemorates the 1968 fastback driven by Steve McQueen in the detective movie Bullitt, the scenes of which are shown at the top. In 2001, Highland Green was reserved only for this model; although the 2001 Bullitt also came in Black and True Blue. The original 1968 movie Bullitt Mustang was painted in 1968 Highland Green.

(from page 11 of the 2001 Collection) The first inside page of the 2001 Mustang GT Bullitt promotional card shows all three colors (dark highland green, true blue, and black). Highland Green is a Ford color that goes back to 1926 but in a lighter shade. The darker color came out in 1968. This page also references the significance of the car chase which featured two hit-men in a black 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Magnum and Steve McQueen as Detective Lieutenant Frank Bullitt driving the modified 1968 Mustang. Its an amazing sequence, especially considering the actual speeds of over 110mph and McQueen doing most of the driving.

(from page 11 of the 2001 Collection) The second inside page of the 2001 Mustang GT Bullitt hero card shows the options of the Bullitt over the GT premium coupe. The standard 4.6L 2001 GT V8 engine is enhanced with a cast aluminum intake manifold, optimized alternator and pump pulley ratios, and high flow mufflers for increased power and sound. Other performance upgrades include better handing and brakes, as well as different rear quarter windows, side scoops, brushed aluminum fuel door, Bullitt badging, upgrade dash gauges, brushed aluminum interior accents, and dark charcoal leather trimmed seats. The Bullitt upgrade was a $3695 option over the premium GT.
