It had been there for six years. Mike sent us photos of the car as he found it and a few of getting it home. Mike is starting to restore it. It is a special ordered car with a blank paint code and special order number 3059 from Salt Lake City.

What is interesting about this car is its special color. Mike's research shows it as Ford special order code WT7034 and was ordered with Andrew's 1968 Special Order Green Mustang of which we also have photos of. Andrew's car is a bluish green that Marti matched to WT7148 which is an almost exact match to WT7126. Both WT7034 and WT7126 has an historical use on 1968 and 69 Mustangs since it is two of 13 colors used for the West Coast Rainbow of Colors promotion. We've just confirmed that the Rainbow of Colors ran in the LA, San Jose, and Salt Lake City area.
(from page 55 of the 1968 Collection) Here they are trying to move the car. Check out the rolling hills in the background.

Little is known about this Ford Truck special model except that it was probably only in the Denver area; included the Bronco, F100 and F250; and came in Boulder Bronze (WT3833), Mountain Green (WT7819), and Sky Blue (WT8816). The reason we have a Bronco on a Mustang site is its color. The color is a match for the 1968, Color of the Month promotion for March commemorating Saint Patrick's Day.

If you haven't, you better go out and get the movie and watch it. The movie has the best car chase scenes ever filmed. The scene featured this Mustang chasing two hit-men in a black 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Magnum. It was 9 minutes and 42 seconds long. Speeds exceeded 110 mph and Steve McQueen did most of the actual driving!

One was destroyed during the movie. The other is rumored to still be around but stashed away from the public eye. They were originally modified for filming by Max Balchowski. They received GR70 tires mounted on 15x8 American Racing Torque Thrusts, heavy duty springs, Koni racing shocks, and added reinforcing braces for the inner fenders. Each car had 390ci 4V engines tweaked for higher performance.

The chase ends soon after this shot with the Charger flying through a gas station and blows up. The Mustang is suppose to be a GT, but I don't see the exhaust cut-outs in the rear valance.
(from page 56 of the 1968 Collection) Here is why the Bullitt movie car was built with heavy duty shocks and springs.

(from page 56 of the 1968 Collection) Long thought gone, Ralph Garcia, Jr. and Hugo Sanchez (in 2016) happened across one of the two Highland Green 1968 Mustang GT 390 fastbacks used in the 1968 Movie called Bullitt. They were looking for fastbacks to turn into Eleanor replicas when then noticed some odd features of this wrecked fastback. It was verified as one of the two Bullitt Mustangs and the story was released to the public in March of 2017.
(from page 56 of the 1968 Collection) After this Mustang was used in the movie it was taken to Mexico as it was too wrecked to be repaired and put on the road in California. The Highland Green paint was covered with red then white paint. It stayed in Mexico for a while then moved to a backyard in Los Cabos where it was discovered.

Seafoam green is one of my favorite Mustang colors, and the color on this car was very impressive. This car also has a pin stripe, wire wheels, and a 289ci V8 engine.

This GT500KR is our Attitude Of The Week for the week starting December 11th, 2011.

This GT/CS was ordered with the GT option which included dual exhaust with quad exhaust tips, argent slotted steel wheels with GT center caps, and heavy duty front and rear spring. All other standard 1968 GT options were not used including the GT gas cap which probably could be ordered separately.
