(1 photo of a 1967 Blue Mustang Hardtop) Geoff from Australia is restoring this 1967 Mustang hardtop. He's painted it Ice Blue. Under the hood is the original 289ci V8 2V engine. Geoff tells us more, "My '67 is in the early stages of restoration and a conversion to Right-Hand-Drive is being done as we speak. The engine and C4 Trans will undergo reconditioning while conversion is being done. Then it will be re-assembled with extractors, 2" system, new chrome, etc."

(6 photos of a 1967 Black And Aspen Red Mustang Ski Country Special Hardtop) Jason of Michigan brought this special Mustang in the rough back from Nebraska. He saw it a few years ago showing its unusual orange original paint here and there. Jason ran the VIN and door data code (65A blank 2A 16C 511913 0 W) and found it to be originally painted Aspen Red, ordered in the Denver area, and has filled in truck lid holes from a luggage rack. This all matches the local Denver special order Ski Country Special promotional package which was the winter version of High Country Special. This promotion featured 5 special order paints (Aspen Red being one of them), ski racks (trunk lid luggage rack), snow tires, and a Ski Country Special rear deck plaque. Jason hasn't found the original plaque but he's been able to confirm from other owners that this is a Ski Country Special. See the other photos in this set for glimpses of the original color and features.

(1 photo of a 1968 Madagascar Orange Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) We received this email of a second special orange/red Mustang with DSO 710777. This one is under restoration along with a possible other special order Mustang. The owner writes, I have recently bought a 1968 Mustang and discovered the original color was a unique orange. After searching the VIN I discovered your site. I have DSO 710777. If you look closely at the picture you can see the original color of Madagascar Orange where the drip rails where removed. Also the trunk have never been touched and is the original Madagascar Orange. I am excited to re-store her one day and preserve Mustang history. Yet another twist of fate! I also owned a 66 Mustang for over 10 years and finally began to sand her layers of paint. Well as I began to remove door panels, and look in places I found a Bubble Gum color pink. Long story short, we believe this Mustang to have been originally painted Playmate pink which was only a special order in 66 and not officially offered. So I am honored to have 2 rare painted Mustang and hope to be able to save up to restore them to their original glory!

(1 photo of a 1968 Whipped Cream Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) Check out this great action shot! Gonzo (underside) and a friend working on the Mustang.

(4 photos of a 1968 Madagascar Orange Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) Check this one out. It's a Madagascar Orange 1968 Mustang hardtop Rainbow of Colors. It was sent in by Bryant Hatfield from Palmer, Texas. Bryant tells us, "It was owned by my friends father. It was buried in a garage for years. His father had passed away so I have no story on the car. Kinda upsetting, but I had noticed the car had no paint code and I started researching and found your site and one other that showed 1187 as my DSO code which states it was a special order orange." The car came with a 289 V8. It now has a 351w V8 engine.

(4 photos of a 1968 Purple Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) Oh my, check out this 1968 Salt Lake City Rainbow of Colors Mustang hardtop in special order purple! The photo looks like a painting. Jayme owns this car and is getting ready for restoration. It has the optional J-code, 230hp, 302ci 4V V8 under the hood, GT side stripe, full wheel covers, parchment interior trim, C4 automatic transmission, and of course special purple paint. We have been looking for the purple paint that has been listed in ads for the Rainbow of Colors promotion, and this one shows it off. We think it is Ford special paint code WT9083 (see the door data tag photo for a non-faded view of this paint). This amazing car and great photo is our Attitude of the Week starting July 9th, 2022.

(2 photos of a 1968 Special Green Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) Here they are trying to move the car. Check out the rolling hills in the background.

(5 photos of a 1968 Sunlit Gold Mustang Golden Nugget Special Hardtop) This is an authentic 1968 Limited Edition 'Gold Nugget Special' promotional car for the Pacific Northwest dealerships. One of only 481 actually produced of the scheduled 525 to be offered through the promotion. The Golden Nugget Mustang has a DSO# 741111 on the door data plate, with the 1111 indicating the Special Order Unit as such. It was a promotion that was offered at no additional charge, however it could not be ordered. According to the promotion details and first hand information from an original owner, each Ford Dealership in the Pacific Northwest was to receive one Gold Nugget Special and the first person who came in wanting to by it was the lucky person. It was sold with a custom commemorative dash plaque with the original purchaser's name and a simulated gold nugget affixed. All of the Gold Nugget Mustangs were only available in the Coupe model, with Sunlit Gold exterior paint, hood blackout stripes, and a black vinyl top with either black or nugget gold interior. They were produced with varying combinations of engines, transmissions and other available options. This particular Gold Nugget Mustang has the original 200ci inline 6cyl engine and 3spd manual transmission. It runs and drives excellent and was driven on a 1200 mile road trip earlier this year with no issues. It is currently driven several times a month and never has any issues starting right up. It is virtually a rust free car and besides needing paint it needs little else to be a great driver/show car. The interior is in nearly perfect condition. Here is your chance to get a truely limited production Mustang. There is a Gold Nugget Registry that has been formed and to date less than two dozen have been confirmed to still be in existence with less than a dozen actually registered. The well known California Special had a production run of more than 4100 being built. The Gold Nugget Special was equal to approximately 10% of that total making it a more unique and rare Mustang than the California Special. I am asking 6250.00 and I may consider partial trades. If you're looking for something different and special, this is the Mustang for you. Feel free to email or call any time. Thanks, Jeff
