(1 photo of a 1968 Shelby Convertible Advertisement) This is an advertisement for the 1968 Carroll Shelby's GT350/GT500 Cobra from the Friday, January 12th, 1968 edition of the Seattle Times newspaper. The dealership is Metke Ford east, across Lake Washington from Seattle in Bellevue Washington. Data for three 1967 Shelby's are shown in this add as well as five 1968 Mustangs, and one 1967 Mustang. Notice the last line of this add, "Home of the Shelby GT 500 & 350 and the new model "C". 1968 marked the first year Ford introduced its number one selling car in England to America, the Model C Cortina.

They advertised $20,000,000 in prizes! 1 in 12 bottle caps were winners. There were "instant win" caps where you could a 7-Up Spot stuffed animal or a special Wilson 7-Up basketball. Some caps said, "If the winning score is xx you win a Mustang" - you could win one of 30 Emerald Green 1990 Mustang convertibles (like Rob's). All you had to do was match your cap's score with the winning team's score in the final college basketball championship game.
