(6 photos of a 1968 Royal Maroon Mustang GT California Special Hardtop) Royal Maroon 1968 Mustang GT California Special hardtop owned by Don Potter from Ohio. This was our featured Attitude Of The Week for March 2nd, 2008. Don has this extra information to share, "The car was found on the internet and purchased February 2004 from an exotic car dealer in the Seattle, Washington area. The photos I received with car indicated that the body work and paint were done in September 1997 and is still in very good shape. The engine bay and engine along with interior and floor pans were in pretty sad shape. The mileage at time of purchase was 54,243. Once the engine and tranny was pulled, the undercarriage was inspected completely. We found several modifications that led me to believe car had been extensively drag raced at one time. The right rear shock housing was pushed up and split in three areas. The trans linkage, clutch bracket and shifter had been modified. Since my purchase, the following work has been completed: interior gutted and replaced, dash repainted correct color and all dash pieces replaced, factory console replaced with a humphugger console, factory shifter replaced with a Hurst shifter, electrical gauges replaced with mechanical gauges, 390 engine replaced with a 428 Cobra Jet engine, grille replaced with correct GT/CS grille and Marchal fog lights, front and rear bumpers replaced, engine bay detailed, rearend rebuilt with new axles and 325:1 Posi w/traction bars, GT pop-open gas cap added, standard LED sequential tail lights from Mustang Project, and the driver's side floor pan and passenger side floor pans replaced along with left front torque box."|

The "R" code is in the VIN number, see engine data. This car was also the "Attitude of the Week" for 9/9/07, see the photo used. When we posted this car in late 2007 it was in Missouri. Rick and Kim tell us, "We recently purchased this beautiful Mustang (in February 2012) and are looking for any available history about the vehicle. Your site says the owner in '07 was in Missouri. We know the Mustang was near London, Ontario (Canada) in December 2010, and then was sold to us from Alabama. Where was the car before 2007, and where was it between 2007 and 2011? By the way, this beautiful Mustang needed a lot of work to get it both safe enough to drive, and running well. Nevertheless, it's definitely the real deal and we absolutely love it, despite the extra costs incurred since our purchase. Oh -- and it's NOT for sale! Lol"

It is a 'J' code Mustang with the 302 4-BBL engine with C-4 transmission. It is the original color Seafoam Green. The interior was changed to black when it was restored - the original was Ivy Green. (1 photo of a 1968 Candy Apple Red Mustang GT Fastback Advertisement) Only Mustang makes it happen! This Mustang magazine advertisement shows what happens to you after you buy a Candyapple Red 1968 Mustang GT fastback. The advertisement reads, Sidney spent Sundays seashelling at the seashore. Then Sidney started digging the '68 Mustang - the great original. Dug the models: hardtop, fastback and convertible. Liked the low price, too, which left Sidney lots of clams to design his own Mustang, Sidney style. Now Sidney's making waves all over. Last week he saved 3 bathing beauties. (And they all could swim better than Sidney!). Check out another version of this ad.
