I have owned the car since October of 2007. Since then I changed the wheels and tires. However, I kept the original wheels and tires as the car only had 4000 miles on it when I bought it. These 35th Anniversary Mustangs are sometimes called a 7-UP car because 30 of these were to be given away by the 7-UP Bottling Company as a promotional item. These cars actually started life at the ford factory as coupes! They were converted to convertibles.

Car & Concepts in St. Louis, Missouri. The 7-Up contest never materialized but 4103 of these special Mustangs were built. 2743 had automatic transmissions and 261 of them were exported out of the country.

The "Truckstang" started life as a 1990 Ford Mustang LX Sedan. The concept was based loosely upon the Ford Ranchero idea, and was a concept vehicle to be proposed to Ford Motor Company; Ford recognized the concept as "interesting" but of limited commercial value. After failing to obtain Ford's interest, the idea was to develop a fiberglass "tub" that could be used on any Mustang, to make it into a utility truck. FoMoCo was interested in the vehicle only as a novelty, and the copyright / patent infringement concerns prevented any further development of that concept. Hence, the "Truckstang" remains a one-off design that has never been copied.
The "Truckstang" had an original 17 miles when the transformation and construction was begun. It was opened up right behind the driver's seat, retaining the original rear quarter panels (which were extended 8 inches). An all-steel, 18-gauge bed was hand-formed, stamped with factory-appearing ribs, and fitted to the inside of the quarter panels. Hand-formed shock-tower housings were created, and the original rear clip was reinstalled. Additional cross-pieces were not required to support the unibody, as the bed is a welded, one piece section, and there is absolutely no cowl shake or vibration.
A Saleen Ground Effects Package was installed, as was a Saleen RaceCraft Suspension: the car handles exactly like a Saleen Mustang, and while a concern might be a lighter-than-normal rear end, the opposite is true: the car weighs exactly 22 pounds more than a stock LX sedan, based upon the heavier gauge steel used in construction.
The wheels are 16-inch Fittipaldi 5-spokes, fitted with Bridgestone Potenza 225x50 front and 245x50 rear, and the wheel coves have been powder coated to match the Vermilion paint. Vermilion was the original factory color, and the entire unit looks like factory-construction.
Other additions include Lear-Seigler Leather, power-lumbar-adjustable buckets, an interior rear package tray, a 1991 Ford Mustang Sunroof, and Flowmaster Stage 2 mufflers. The "Truckstang" is powered by a stock 5.0 liter, 4-speed AOD, with 308 rear gears, and has all power options available in 1990. The "Truckstang" is driven on a regular basis, to and from car shows as well as the occasional parade, and needs nothing in the way of restoration or cosmetics. The "Truckstang" is garaged and covered when not in use.
The car has been in numerous magazines; driven on the Hot Rod Power Tour, as well as the feature car at many car shows, and has received dozens of awards: the "Truckstang" was voted "Best Engineered" at the International World of Wheels, Washington, DC; featured at the 35th Anniversary of the Mustang in Charlotte where it received a special "Award of Excellence" from John Coletti, (then Chief of Ford Special Vehicle Operations); featured at the 45th Anniversary of the Mustang, and awarded yet another "Award of Excellence" and has been on television several times.

I got this sweet car about 3 months ago and am planning to make it look like when it came out of the show room, 'perfect'. It looks pretty good but I think it may need a convertible pump or something because it doesn't move, and it also needs some details... Years ago, when I was an English student, my English teacher at the time had a 1986 GT and it was so beautiful and fast! We got to be very close friends and I got to drive the car for 2 days. The idea of getting one of these ponies stuck in my mind, and after 7 or 8 years, I got my own. I'm very happy with it.

"It all started with something as simple as ice cream!
My husband, Howard, and I were up visiting our friends Mike and Jolene one Saturday evening when we all decided to have some ice cream for dessert. So, a quick trip to Baskin-Robbins was in order. Mike and Jolene had just recently purchased their daughter a 1996 Mustang convertible for being a straight A student. We were elected to go pick-up the ice cream so Mike tossed us the keys to the mustang and said here take this! Howard said I could drive and off we went.
It didn't take too long for that Mustang Convertible to put a spell on me and by the time we arrived at Baskin-Robbins I informed my husband he could buy me my own Mustang - just as long as it was a convertible!
Unbeknownst to me, Howard started looking for a convertible for me. On Saturday, June 28, 2003, my husband took me to look at a Mustang convertible. The guy opened his garage door and backed the car out of the garage. I was standing on the side of the driveway and almost jumped out of my skin, my eyes bulging out and said out loud: 'I want that Mustang!' Little did I know how those four little words could affect my husband's purchase negotiation! (He wouldn't budge a penny) We took it for a test drive and it was so much fun, I forgot about the time and this little Pony made me late for work!
I swear I only asked Howard once or twice if he planned on buying me the car - Howard told me I asked about a hundred times over the next three days! On Wednesday evening Howard was off to his monthly computer meeting and then to dinner with his friends afterward. Little did I know he skipped the meeting and set out to negotiate the purchase of the Mustang. After he finalized the deal Howard called me and asked me to join them for dinner. All his friends knew what he was up to and we were all waiting in the restaurant for my husband to arrive when I spied him pulling into the parking lot in my car! I squealed: He bought me my car!
Howard casually walked into the restaurant, dropped the keys in my hand, gave me a sweet kiss, and said 'here's the keys to your Mustang' During the evening Howard wondered out loud if this would get him lucky - I told him we could pull the new car in the garage when we got home and I would show him lucky!
My Mustang immediately went on the show circuit along with my husband's Mach 1 Mustang. The first show we attended together was the Cache Valley Cruise-In the following Saturday. The morning of the show, Howard tossed me a towel and a bottle of wax and said 'It's your car - you can wax it!' For once I didn't mind cleaning a Mustang before a car show!
It is great to own my own Mustang! Since we bought it, it has received new tires and wheels, a Cervini Mach 1 hood, a Cervini Saleen rear spoiler, new leather interior, new convertible top, a Dr. Gas exhaust system, 3:73 gears, LX taillights and quite a few other goodies as well. The purple pin striping really lets people know whose car this is! My car has taken on a transformation to my personality and what I really wanted in a Mustang!"

With less than 5000 miles on this care, it is all original except for a new battery and air filter; these are even the original P225/60VR-15 tires (with a little ArmorAll of course).

"It has Enkie 192x15 inch black wheels with chrome lip, Clarion CD player with EQ, a Punch 400 Rockford Fosgate with two Rockford Fosgate 12 inch subs in a custom made box. It is going to the body shop for a little paint work the body moldings, hood, ground effects, and fenders. They are being repainted because the clear coat was coming off in places. The rest looks good it will look awesome when done."

"I was lucky to see this car for the first time in a friend of mine's garage after work one day. He told me he'd never sell it. Well, he lost his job shortly after and allowed me to buy it. It;s a 1990 LX 5.0 25th Anniversary convertible. The car never seen a drop of weather till this year. My friend got it from an old lady who only drove it on nice days and kept it garaged. He got the car and put it in his garage under a
cover. He had it for 5 years and only put 35-50 miles on it the whole time he owned it. It now has 107,000 original well-taken-care-of miles on the OD. The top had only been down twice till I got it. Now its been down 4-5 times. Everything on the car is original and complete. This 2 owner (well I make 3 owner) car still looks like she did the day she was built. I'll only be changing cosmetic items on the car to keep her a 100% clean and original. I currently have a new set of headers and a new set of rims to put on it. Probably only putting on an exhaust and a Bama tuner chip in. Other than that, she's stayin the way she is. If i want to add mods to a Mustang, I'll buy another one. This will be my collector piece. Proud to own this car"
