I found this special ordered Mustang Ski Country Special on cars.com. I had been looking for a decent 289 Mustang for about a year and found this in my back yard the next town over Coarsegold, California. Owned it for one year and 6 months, I got curious and ran the VIN#. It kept coming up special ordered, so I got more curious and ordered a Marti Report. The Marti Report solved the special order, it was something I never knew existed. What's a Ski Country Special? I did some more research and I'm very happy I did. This is 1 of 247 Ski Country Specials produced according to the Marti Report. I did very little mods. I had painted black stripes and new rims and dual exhaust on it. The rest of the car is stock. I also recovered the original badge for this model. I called the original owner up and asked her what was so special about the car; and she said her dad ordered it as a special model and there was some kind of badge that went on the decklid that was never put back on the car after one repaint. The owner asked me if I wanted the badge and I said sure; and now it's on the rear decklid where the dealer installed it in 1967.

blank paint code Mustang; meaning, the car was factory painted a non-standard production color. Michael tells us more.
We found the car in the Netherlands, there is a dealer who sells only Mustangs 1964-1972. It was a great looking car in our eyes and we bought the pony. At home we saw that there was a missing paint code in the VIN. After sending a chip of paint (found under the rear seat) to Marti Auto, we got the answer that the pony was painted with the special paint called "Cream". We started a search for Mustangs painted in cream, but found no other cars. Then we put our question in the vintage mustang forum and Kevin Marti wrote us that there were 5 cars (with different options) which was ordered by one dealer (Ed Chovanes Ford, San Leandro CA). So we know that we have got a very special car. The Mustang was painted over one time (we hope with the original color) and was a one owner car from San Jose.

"This 1967 Mustang is a survivor with 15,800 original miles on it. The paint, interior, and everything on the car is original. It has the original owner's manual and two factory build sheets with it. The only option it has is power steering. I have owned it for two months. It originally sold at Borcher's Ford in Dayton, Ohio; was manufactured at Metuchen, New Jersey; and ordered through the Cincinnati DSO."

(2 photos of a 1967 White Mustang Indy Pacesetter Hardtop) Have you ever seen one of these? Have you ever heard of the Indy Pacesetter Special? It was produced to honor the Indy 500 race, without being an official Indy pacecar. These special dual stripes were unique to the limited edition model. According to the owner, Fran, these stripes have been painted on, we think the original were reflective tape stripes. Features of this special included Scotchlite (reflective) stripes (possibly blue over black dual stripes), special rear grille (white taillight panel with blue stripes as shown here), sporty louvered hood with integrated turn signals, sport tires with the optional V8, bucket seats, blue interior vinyl trim, full carpeting, and full wheel covers with whitewall tires. We believe they all came in Wimbledon White exterior paint. Fran tell us the Marti Report on his car states that 324 were ordered by Allen County Motors of Fort Wayne, Indiana. We've found many
newspaper advertisements about the sale of this car in 1967.
