Player's Cigarettes Blue and White Mustang Hardtop At least 50 of these blue and white 1966 Mustang hardtops were given out by the Player's cigarette company in many separate sweepstake in Quebec, Manitoba, Ontario, and Alberta between October 1965 and September of 1966. All Mustang has the 200 cubic inch six cylinder engine, 3 speeds manual transmission, full wheel covers, and AM radio. The Blue and White exterior paint matched the Player's cigarette package. We think the blue is 1966 Nightmist Blue which is very dark and Wimbledon White. We also have several newspaper advertisements for this promotion as well as many of the winners. This set of photos was submitted to us from a viewer as well as the first newspaper article in the second set.
Player's Cigarettes Blue and White 1966 Mustang Hardtop Here is a great left front view of a Blue and White 1966 Mustang Player's special edition hardtop. The exterior paint scheme matched the Player's cigarette packages.
Player's Mustang There's a 200 cubic inch, six-cylinder engine under the hood, so the exhaust is single on this blue and white 1966 Mustang Player's special edition hardtop.
1966 Player's Mustang interior This is the only interior view of the car we have. It shows a light colored interior although there may have been some dark accents. Possibly white and blue to match the exterior paint.

Newspaper advertisement for the 1966 Player's Mustang Submitted by a viewer, this is a Player's Mustang special edition advertisement from the National Library and Archives of Quebec / Le Petit Journal for the Week of June 5, 1966. Player's Cigarettes gave out a series of blue and white specially painted 1966 Mustangs as part of this sweepstakes. This ad says, Enter the contest Mustangs Players Hurry in! You to can easily be among the winners of a spirited Mustang 1966. A Mustang will be awarded in prizes every week. So you can participate in the competition many times. Nothing could be simpler: you just have to get a Player's cigarette packet and ship your entry to the address listed below. In the rules it says that a drawing will be preformed every week starting June 21st and ending August 23rd (10 weeks). Similar contests ran in Alberta, Ontario, and Manitoba from 1965 through 1968. All Mustangs have the 200 cubic inch, six cylinder engine, 3 speeds manual transmission and, full hubcaps, and an AM radio.

October 1965 Alberta CA - Players Special Edition Mustang This newspaper advertisement introduces the late 1965 early 1966 Player's "Mustang-A-Week" contest for the Blue and White 1966 Mustang Players special edition hardtop. This advertisement calls the sweepstakes a weekly contest, but some later versions had it every two weeks. It came from the October 26th, 1965 edition of The Lethbridge Herald of Lethbridge, Alberta. It says that every week for 10 weeks starting October 25th a Player's Mustang will be given away.
65-66 Alberta CA - Players Special Edition Mustang And here are 6 of the 10 winners for the 1965-66 Alberta Player's Mustang-A-Week contest. The first (upper left) is the second Mustang given away in Alberta to Mrs. E Fisher of Calgary, Alberta. We found this ad in the November 6th, 1965 edition of The Lethbridge Herald of Lethbridge, Alberta. The top center shows Mr. R. P. Schoemaker of Edmonton, Alberta in this ad in the November 16th, 1965 edition of The Lethbridge Herald of Lethbridge, Alberta. Top right is Miss L Babee of Edmonton, Alberta in the November 30th, 1965 of the same newspaper. This ad shows the Player's cigarette package in the background for which the paint scheme of the Mustang was based. Mr. Richard Liebrecht of Lethbridge, Alberta is shown in the lower left in the December 10th, 1965 edition. Lower center shows another Player's Smoker, Mrs. Muriel Thomspon of Red Deer, Alberta getting the keys in a December 27th, 1965 ad. Mrs. Jean Edgson of Grande Prairie, Alberta is the last Player's Smoker winner in a January 10th, 1966 ad. We are missing 4 winners of this round of 10 contest winners.
July - August 1966 Manitoba CA - Players Special Edition Mustang This is a version of the Player's Mustang sweepstakes newspaper advertisement in the May 31st, 1966 edition of the Winnipeg Free Press of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It says, Enter Player's big 'Mustang contest'. Go ahead! You could easily be a winner of a lively 1966 Mustang. And remember, a Mustang will be given away every two weeks - so you can enter again and again. It's simple - pick up a pack of Player's Cigarettes. Just send you entry to the address below. It also says that the first winner will be selected May 10th, then May 24th, June 7th, June 21st, July 5th and July 19th. 10 blue and white special Player's Mustangs were given out in this round of the contest.
July - August 1966 Manitoba CA - Players Special Edition Mustang Here are 6 of the 10 winners for the July - August 1966 Manitoba round of the Player's Mustang contest. Upper left Mr. A Lake of Winnipeg, Manitoba is the Player's Smoker shown winning in the June 7th, 1966 edition of the Winnipeg Free Press. Upper center shows Mrs. N. Bonnl of East Klidonan, Manitoba in the June 17th, 1966 edition of the same newspaper. Upper right shows Another Player's Smoker winning a '66 Mustang. This time its Corporal George Fyvie of RCAF Station, Beausejour, Manitoba in a July 6th, 1966 ad. On the bottom Mr. Leo Immonen of Port Arthur, Ontario on July 23rd; Mr. G. Lamont of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada on August 5th; and Mrs. Mary Stuart of Brandon, Manitoba on August 18th. We are missing 4 winners of this round of 10 contest winners.
July - August Aberta Player's Mustang contest This is an introductory ad for the Alberta July - September 1966 Player's big "Mustang-A-Week" contest for a special blue and white 1966 Mustang Players special edition. A winner was selected every two weeks for 10 weeks, giving away 5 Mustangs. We found it in the July 25th edition of the Lethbridge Herald of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. All Player's Mustangs have the 200 cubic inch, six cylinder engine, 3 speeds manual transmission and, full hubcaps, and an AM radio.
July - August 1966 Aberta Player's Mustang contest This Player's Cigarette Mustang advertisement shows some of the previous winners. This ad says that 5 will be given away each week starting on August 2nd and ending August 30th. It also shows 10 photo graphs of Mustangs given away last year which was actually between early November 1965 and late January 1966. This ad was placed int he July 18th, 1966 edition of the Lethbridge Herald of Lethbridge, Alberta.
July - August 1966 Aberta Player's Mustang contest Here are 3 of the 5 winners for the July-August 1966 Player's contest giving away special blue and white Mustangs color matched to the cigarette package. Miss Betty Jean Munro of Calgary is shown in the upper left ad that was in the August 22nd, 1966 edition of The Lethbridge Herald, of Lethbridge, Alberta. The second Player's Smoker of the week is Mrs. V Asuchak of Fort Macleod in an ad is from the August 27th, 1966 edition of of the same newspaper. Mrs. R J Kwasnie of Lethbridge, Alberta is the last winner in a September 9th, 1966 ad.

Emberglo 1966 Mustang Hardtop This amazing Emberglo orange 1966 Mustang hardtop with steel styled wheels is our Attitude Of The Week for the week starting June 16th, 2013. Besides the steel styled wheels, this car has a parchment pony interior, and a 289 V8 under the hood. I photographed this car last year at the Mustang Round up car show in the Seattle area.
