That is the 289ci High Performance V8 engine. Most of the 1965 "carry-over" Shelbys had the black painted engine like this one. The special Shelby VIN plate can be seen off to the right on the inner edge of the fender.
Just the basics in here. It has Ray Brown 3-inch competition seat belts.
There is a cobra emblem on the tachometer and on steering wheel center cap.
No back seat! Just a roll bar. Rear seats where not an option in 1965, but they were in 1966.
    
This is a Raven Black 1966 Shelby GT-350H. The "H" stands for Hertz. These cars where sold to the Hertz Rental Car Corporation and were available to the public for renting! Some early ones came with 4-speed manual transmissions. Since so many came back from rental customers with burnt out clutches, the later ones were all built as automatics. Shelby produced 1000 of these cars in 1966; 800 in Raven Black, and 50 each in Candy Apple Red, Wimbledon White, Sapphire Blue and Ivy Green. This one has a 1965 VIN meaning that it is a "carry-over" car. It's a 1966 model built from 1965 parts. Here is some codes from the vehicle certification tag: body 63A, color 3, trim 26, date 19Q, DSO 71, axle 2, trans 6.

The 289ci High Performance engine block is black indicating that it is a 1965 "carry-over" Shelby. Story goes, that many of these Rent-A-Racers do not have their original engines. Many were swapped out by the people who rented them back in 1966.

This Emberglo 1966 Mustang GT fastback with K-code engine was the Attitude Of The Week for 9/16/2007. The GT package was very popular in 1966 because the option sold for $152.20 and included the high-performance 271hp (at 6000rpm), 289 cubic inch, V8 engine; dual exhaust; fog lamps; special ornamentation; disc brakes; GT racing stripes and handling package components. This Mustang shows off its Red Band nylon tires which was a option for $48.89, and styled steel wheels for $93.84.
