Green Mustangs at MustangAttitude.com

The first Green Mustang was introduced the first year of Mustang production in 1964. Three shades of green were introduced in 1964: Pagoda Green, Dynasty Green, and Cascade Green. There were 90 offerings of Green in 35 of the 47 production years of the Mustang. Follow this link to see photos of all green Mustangs on this site.

My favorate green is Seafoam Green which was only available for the 1968 Mustang. This amazing light green could have been combined with Meadowlark Yellow, Diamond Blue, Passionate Pink, and Eastertime Coral on dealerships in 1968 to form the Mustang Easter Collection of Colors sales promotion. The only green close to this color is 1967 Diamond Green which we feature below.

Seafoam Green

Starting in 1969 with the Shelby Mustang and then becoming available on the regular Mustang lineup in 1970 and 1971, Grabber Green paint was a popular sport model color. In 1971, a new Grabber Lime was added, but none of the Grabber Green colors have been used on Mustangs after 1971.

Ivy Glow was one of the first Glow Paint offerings in 1972 as an option for $34 extra. In 1973, Bright Green Glow was added to the Glow Paint lineup along with Ivy Glow, Blue Glow, and Gold Glow; but now at no extra charge. Green Glow didn't return until 1976 as Medium Emerald Glow; a special order color, and hasn't been offered since.

There were several green featured Mustang special models. These models where either exclusively green or came in special green paint.

Timberline Green 1966 and 1967 High Country Special

Timberline Green was one of three special colors for the Colorado area High Country Special promotional Mustang for 1966 and 1967. We think the actual TImerline Green used in 1966 was different than the one used in 1967 because the Ford and Dupont color codes for the two years are different. The High Country Special had several sport options including a 6 cylinder or V8 engine, wire or regular wheels, and a High Country Special blue fender badge. The other two special colors were Aspen Gold and Columbine Blue. The color codes for both the blue and gold was the same for both 1966 and 1967. The High Country Special was also offered in 1968, but in the standard 1968 Mustang colors, but with may of the Shelby body features and a signiture GTCS body side stripe.

Loveland Green 1967 Ski Country Special

Loveland Green was one of five special colors for the Denver area 1967 Ski Country Special which featured ski racks, snow tires, equalock rear axle, a heavy duty battery, and a Ski Country Special decklid medallion. The 1967 Ski Country Special was a winter version of the Denver 1967 High Country Special. Other colors for the Ski Country Special included Aspen Red, Vail Blue, Winter Park Turquoise, and Breckenridge Yellow. See our 1967 data explorer to see the all the Ski Country Special colors first compiled by MustangAttitude.com.

Diamond Green 1967 Special Order Paint Mustang

Diamond Green was a popular special order paint in 1967. Some say that 1967 was the year with the most colors available for a Mustang, possibility more than 40 colors. See our list of all 1967 colors in our 1967 Mustang Data Explorer.

Deep Emerald Green 1990 25th Anniversary 7-Up Mustangs

In 1990, the 20th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang was celibrated with a Special Edition 1990 Deep Emerald Green Mustang LX convertible. These models are sometimes called a 7-Up Mustang because 30 of these were to be given away by the 7-Up Bottling Company as a promotional item. These cars actually started life at the Ford factory as coupes! They were converted to convertibles. The work was done by Car & Concepts in St. Louis, Missouri. The 7-Up contest never materialized but 4103 of these special Mustangs were built. 2743 had automatic transmissions and 261 of them were exported out of the country.

Highland Green 2001 Bullitt Coupe

Highland Green was an exclusive color for the Bullitt optioned 2001 Mustang which was based on the 1968 fastback driven by Steve McQueen in the detective movie Bullitt. Bullitt modifications included unique side scoops, 17-inch American Racing aluminum wheels, a lowered suspension, modified C-pillars, special quarter panel molding, rocker panel moldings, brushed aluminum fuel cap door, special Bullitt badging, polished-rolled tailpipe, and came in Dark Highland Green and True Blue and Black. The original 1968 GT 350 used in the movie was Dark Highland Green. The movie's director called for speeds of 75 to 80 mph, but the cars (including the ones containing the cameras) reached speeds of over 110 mph on surface streets. Filming of the chase scene took three weeks, resulting in 9 minutes and 42 seconds of film. During the chase scene, the Charger loses six hubcaps and has different ones missing at different times. The production company was denied permission to film on the Golden Gate Bridge. The Bullitt was also offered in 2008 and 2009, but was also offered in Black.

Highland Green 2008 & 2009 Bullitt Coupe

In 2008 and 2009, the Mustang Bullitt coupe came in Highland Green and Black. The new Mustang Bullitt brought back the style of the 1968 Mustang fastback used in the 1968 Steve McQueen movie Bullitt. This special model included modified 18-inch micro machined Euro-flange Bullitt wheels with a satin finish; tri-bar pony wheel caps; dark gray painted calipers; satin finish Bullitt emblems/badging; 3.5 inch stainless steel packed exhaust tips; ram air and other improvements added to the 4.6 liter, 3-valve, single-overhead cam, V8 engine; and special handling.

Other Green Special Model Mustangs we are working on include the Emerald Green used on several 1967 Saint Patrick's Day parade convertibles; a different Emerald Green special paint used on the March 1968 St Patrick's Day, Color of the Month promotional Mustang; a Timerberline Green 1967 Northwestern Territorial promotional Mustang; and four shades of green (Moss Green, Forest Green, Poppy Green, and maybe Olive Green) used as part of the 1968-69 Rainbow of Colors West coast promotion.
