This site considers that the first Glo Mustang was introduced in 1966 as Emberglo, although most consider 1972 and 1973 as the years of the Glow Paint. Emberglo is my favorite color on a Mustang with Beryllium orange coming in as a close second. There were 16 offerings of Glow Paint in 10 of the 47 production years of the Mustang. Most reference 1972 as the first year of the special option Glow Paints. Ivy Glow and Gold Glow (also called Bright Yellow Gold) was offered in 1972 as a $34 option. Glow paints were more expensive because of the protectants applied which attempted to prevent the color from fading or crazing over time. Today's clear coats and other new technologies in protectants have allowed these bright colors to return but without the word glow.
1973 was the main year for the Glow Paints on Mustangs. In 1973 Glow paints where part of the standard list of available colors which could be selected at no extra charge.
Below is a list of all years and shades of Glow Paint Mustangs.
