1968 High Country Special Mustang

High Country Special

The 1968 GT High Country Special was a midyear package similar to the California Special but offered in the Colorado area. It included an engine upgrade to the C-code base V8 engine with dual exhaust, a body side stripe, 14 inch steel styled wheels, side scoop, and High Country Special side decals. Unlike the previous years, the High Country Special was offered in any of the standard 1968 Mustang colors. Thank you Arlie Moses for correcting our error on available colors

Candy Apple Red High Country Special
Candy Apple Red 1968 Mustang GT High Country Special with a litte bit of front end damage. 250 of these cars were built by the San Jose plant for the Colorado area in 1968 and followed the tradition of GT upgrades and HCS side emblem found on the 1966 and 67 High Country Specials. The 1968 California Special was inspired by the three year successful run of High Country Specials. These HCS models featured a carburetor jetted for high altitude driving, side scoops, a factory fiberglass trunk lid with molded in spoiler, Shelby style taillights, namesake decals, horse delete grille, high-intensity fog/driving lights, hood pins and a stripe decal down each side of the vehicle.
