View of the 1985, Ford, Mustang, M-code, manual transmission, 5.0L, high output, V8 engine. Starting in 1985 performance improvements to the V8 came only on the automatic M-code V8 engine, not the automatic version which used the 1984 M-code engine configuration. 35hp was added with a combination of stainless headers, low-friction roller tappets, high performance camshaft, and a more efficient accessory drive system controlling power to the air conditioner, power steering and alternator.
