It is a 'J' code Mustang with the 302 4-BBL engine with C-4 transmission. It is the original color Seafoam Green. The interior was changed to black when it was restored - the original was Ivy Green. The most interesting story is that I found the build sheet behind the dash when I was replacing bulbs in the instrument cluster and it confirmed everything that was on the car."

(13 photos of a 1968 Olive Green Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Branded Hardtop) mustang This double unique, special model, Mustang was our featured Attitude of the Week for the week of December 13th, 2009. Robbie Tromp from the Netherlands has restored this Olive Green 1968 Rainbow of Colors promotional Mustang which is also a Branded Special. This olive green is one of 13 special colors which a new Mustang owner could order along with several upgrades in the west coast Rainbow of Colors promotion. Also during this time dealers could add a Branded Special emblem to further promote a car. Amazingly this car is both! This was the first Olive Green Rainbow of Colors promotional Mustang that found us. A few months ago, Wolfgang Kohrn of ponysite.de, contacted us about finding a unique originally painted, olive green, 1968, Mustang in the Netherlands which had all the options and special order data to indicate that it was the first car found of this unique color. This is that car which is also featured on Wolfgang's site. So far we've only found 9 names of the 13 colors of the promotion. This green was not one of them, so we've been temporarily calling it Olive Green. If you know the official color name, let us know. About the same time, Jeff from Oregon, emailed us on his newest purchase of an olive green 1968 Mustang which turns out to be a sister car to Robbie's because the share the same DSO order area, special order number, and therefore ordered by the same dealer which was, Lou Gerard Motors, in Redding, California. Look at the other photos of this car, Robbie has much more information.

It wasn't. It had been painted, the engine had been worked on, and the interior redone. I have done the rest. It now has FlowMaster dual exhaust, was stock with single exhaust. It has been converted from a 2bbl to a 4bbl system with an Edelbrock 1406 carburetor and a Ford 289 4bbl cast iron manifold. In my garage, I have a 351 Windsor on an engine stand that I have torn down and am waiting for the money to be saved for the 408 stroker parts I want. Then I will rebuild it myself. Yes, I am a girl who doesn't mind getting dirty. I have a full shop in my garage including engine hoist and tools. Donations are always welcome for this project."

(1 photo of a 1968 Madagascar Orange Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) Karen Rose in Raleigh, North Carolina owns a very rare Madagascar Orange 1968 Mustang. This car was originally ordered by her grandma Frannie in California, who picked out one of the special factory colors advertised in the "Rainbow of Colors" Ford promotion between 1968 and 1969. Karen writes, I still drive this car regularly, but it could use some restoration, most pressingly a new hard top. I've been scouting around for a good body shop in the Raleigh NC area if you know of one. Thank! And you don't even want to see photos of my engine, it's not a pretty sight, but at only 160k, garaged most of her life in California, I'm still able to keep her going replacing part for part as they wear out. She's a good gal at 40. A larger wallpaper view of this car is also available.

(5 photos of a 1968 Black Mustang Hardtop) Jim Foster shares photos of his black 1968 Mustang. It has it's original 289ci V8 and an automatic transmission. During the time I have had the car, I have put over 500,000 miles on the original engine and it has not been rebuilt. On May 26, 2006 it was totaled in an accident. I took the money I got from the insurance company, cashed out a 401K, and restored my car. Two of the following pictures are of the accident. Since the restoration, I have entered it into numerous car shows/events and have won numerous trophies/awards and several honorable mentions. (1 photo of a 1968 Samoan Coral Mustang Color Of The Month Hardtop) This amazing, special ordered, 1968, Sprint optioned, Mustang hardtop was purchased in 1968 and is still owned by Orville and Ann Werner of Colorado. Since then Orville has seen other coral 1968 Mustangs in the area. "Samoan Coral" is the name of the paint as Orville recalls, and was part of the Color of the Month promotion in Colorado. The door data tag has a blank color code indicating that it the exterior color was a special order, the order district is 51 for Denver, the special order number is 3000, and the build date is 15D for April 15th. (5 photos of a 1968 Corporate Yellow Mustang Golden Nugget Special Hardtop) Corporate Yellow 1968 Mustang Gold Nugget Special hardtop with a 289 cubic inch, 4 barrel V8 engine. This was one of the 525 Gold Nugget Special cars ordered in the Seattle and Oregon areas. Most of the cars came in Sunlit Gold (color code Y) which some call Anniversary Gold (and think its a darker gold but we have no idea other than the ad from 1968 which says its Sunlit Gold), although all the standard and special 1968 colors were available. As part of the Gold Nugget Special package came a black vinyl roof, blacked out hood stripes (delete when restored) with louvers, and a golden dash plate with the owners name.

(1 photos of a 1968 Madagascar Orange Mustang Rainbow Of Colors Hardtop) We received this email of a second special orange/red Mustang with DSO 710777. This one is under restoration along with a possible other special order Mustang. The owner writes, I have recently bought a 1968 Mustang and discovered the original color was a unique orange. After searching the VIN I discovered your site. I have DSO 710777. If you look closely at the picture you can see the original color of Madagascar Orange where the drip rails where removed. Also the trunk have never been touched and is the original Madagascar Orange. I am excited to re-store her one day and preserve Mustang history. Yet another twist of fate! I also owned a 66 Mustang for over 10 years and finally began to sand her layers of paint. Well as I began to remove door panels, and look in places I found a Bubble Gum color pink. Long story short, we believe this Mustang to have been originally painted Playmate pink which was only a special order in 66 and not officially offered. So I am honored to have 2 rare painted Mustang and hope to be able to save up to restore them to their original glory!
