This is a 5.0L V8 engine. The owner has modified it with a high performance competition upper intake. Factory Saleens have an ID tag under the hood. You can see it on the firewall off to the left.

The SSC engine put out 292hp instead of 225ph in the stock Saleen. This was done with the help of a 65mm throttle body, new intake plenum, larger cylinder head ports, wider rocker arm ratios, HD cooling system stainless tubular headers, and Walker Dynomax mufflers.

This 1989 Saleen Mustang has a Kenne Bell supercharger on its 5.0L V8. The only options this Saleen came with are the gold stripes and wheels. This supercharger is aftermarket.
