(from page 48 of the 1968 Collection) Wimbledon White 1968 Mustang Sprint optioned hardtop owned by Gustavo Carmona from Cotati, California. This one has the Sprint B package which had the V8 engine, Argent style wheels, and the fog lights. Gustavo tells us, "I found the Mustang in a small town called Woodacre while I was storm patrolling the area. Looking at the Mustang and not knowing what was the condition or what was the story of it, I asked the neighbor. The neighbor told me that people have been stopping for the Mustang and never was sold to anybody. Luckily that day I stopped by and the son's mother told me that her son was getting married and he was probably be interested in selling it. I called him up. I am the third owner. It was in very good condition. All matching numbers all original inside and outside."

The Sprint B came with a V8 engine, argent style wheels, and GT fog lamps. Two 1968 Mustang promotions come to mind: the Anniversary gold with black striped louvered hood Seattle area Golden Nugget Special, and the Black Hills Gold January Color of the Month rumored to be in the Denver area only. Both these special promotional cars were built in the San Jose plant (VIN 8R...) where this car was built in Metuchen, New Jersey (VIN 8T...); therefore, technically this car may be neither but it was ordered with the same paint as the January Color of the Month Black Hills Gold. During the restoration of this car, the wheels have been changed to later Magnum 500 wheels.

The Sprint "B" option came with a V8, argent styled steel wheels (this car has had them replaced with later Magnum 500 wheels), and GT fog lamps. Earlier year versions of the A and B package differed only by automatic or manual transmission.

The Color of the Month Mustang promotion ran the first four months of 1968 featuring a New Years January special gold paint, pink for Valentine's Day, a March St. Patrick's Day green, and Eastertime Coral in April. All Color of the Month Mustangs where rumored to be built in San Jose (VIN starting with 8R) and ordered for the Denver area. This car was built in San Jose but ordered in Los Angeles under special order 0778. In 1968, the San Jose plant also built special order cars with this same pink paint (WT9036) for the 1968 Rainbow of Colors West Coast promotion. The Rainbow of Colors cars were mainly ordered in the Los Angeles area, so this may be one of those cars instead.

(from page 51 of the 1968 Collection) I had to include this advertisement from the January 31st, 1968 edition of the Lynnwood Enterprise since the microfilm scan was so clear. This Golden Nugget Special was featured at Harris Ford of Lynnwood, Washington just a few miles from my home. Its still there, but I bet all 525 cars have been sold by now...
(from page 51 of the 1968 Collection) What comes after the Seattle area, 1968, Golden Nugget Special? The New Mustang Sprint '68 says this ad in the March 20th 1968 edition of the Lynnwood Enterprise of Lynnwood, Washington. The Sprint features GT side stripe, sporty wheel covers, wheel lip moldings, flip-open chromed gas cap, bucket seats, stick shift, and plush carpeting. (from page 51 of the 1968 Collection) Mustang Colt and Lady Mustang limited edition 1968 Mustang hardtop newspaper advertisement from Bill Marsh Ford of Newtown, Pennsylvania. We found this advertisement in the May 9th, 1968 edition of the Bucks County Courier Times of Levittown, Pennsylvania. It's a his and hers sale. Both Mustangs have names plates, numbered identification badges, bullet tip front fenders, and other upgrades. These special models appear to be mostly dealer added options and only offered at Marsh Ford. See the other photos of this set for more details.
