(from page 13 of the 1968 Collection) Robbie's research has shown that this car was originally ordered with automatic transmission, electric clock (driver side dash center), center console, deluxe steering wheel, power disc brakes, power steering, tilt steering, air conditioning, AM radio, color matched deluxe seat belts, tinted glass, remote control left hand mirror, deluxe wheel covers, 7.35 x 14-4 ply rated white sidewall tires. Its possible that the vinyl roof and Branded special pony emblem was added by the dealer.

(from page 14 of the 1968 Collection) This is an amazing close-up shot of Robbie's, Olive Green, 1968, Branded, Rainbow of Colors promotional Mustang. Incredible restoration and photo Robbie!!! This will be my desktop wallpaper for quite some time.

(from page 14 of the 1968 Collection) Here Robbie is holding his newly discovered original design replica of the Branded Special vinyl roof emblem. The lower one was his best guess at the time of restoration which included a new vinyl roof, since the emblems were missing but the three bolt holes indicated its original location.

(from page 14 of the 1968 Collection) Nicely restored Nugget Gold vinyl interior which includes many upgrades including a full center console, automatic transmission, deluxe steering wheel, color matched deluxe seat belts, air conditioning, AM radio, and electric clock. See the next photo for a better shot of the electric clock.

(from page 14 of the 1968 Collection) This is a photo of the door data tag before restoration. The door data tag reads: 65A hardtop body style with standard bucket seats, blank color code indicating a special order color, 2Y nugget gold vinyl bucket seats, 16B scheduled for assembly on the 16th of February, 1968, 72 ordered in the San Jose area, 1194 special order number which is shared with Jeff from Oregon, 5 3.00:1 rear axle ratio, and W C4 automatic transmission. This data tag along with the color gives us the best match to the Rainbow of Colors west coast promotion. All cars for this promotion were built in the San Jose plant in 1968 or 1969 which the 8R in the VIN indicates. Also all the cars we've found were either ordered in the San Jose area (DSO 72) or Los Angeles (DSO 71), had blank color codes indicating a special order color, and have a special order number. Many of the options of this car also match the other Rainbow of Colors Mustangs we've compiled.

(from page 14 of the 1968 Collection) Here is a great photo of Robbie's, Olive Green, 1968, Branded, Rainbow of Colors promotional Mustang before restoration. He found it in San Jose, under a cloth in a driveway before shipping it to the Netherlands.

(from page 14 of the 1968 Collection) Close-up of the front end before restoration showing the original gold side stripes.

(from page 14 of the 1968 Collection) A close-up of the gold side stripes and 302 Mustang emblem. Yes, there's a J-code, 302ci, 4 barrel, V8 engine under the hood; originally rated at 230hp at 4800rpm.

(from page 14 of the 1968 Collection) Here is the interior before restoration. Its Nugget Gold vinyl with bucket seats, color matched seat belts, and full center console.

(from page 14 of the 1968 Collection) Vermillion Red 1968 Mustang hardtop owned by Julie Austad from Everett, Washington. This was our featured Attitude Of The Week photo for the week starting December 27, 2009. Julie also has a 2006 Mustang. Julie shares, "I bought the car 8/9/03 as a 'Totally Restored Beauty'. It wasn't. It had been painted, the engine had been worked on, and the interior redone. I have done the rest. It now has FlowMaster dual exhaust, was stock with single exhaust. It has been converted from a 2bbl to a 4bbl system with an Edelbrock 1406 carburetor and a Ford 289 4bbl cast iron manifold. In my garage, I have a 351 Windsor on an engine stand that I have torn down and am waiting for the money to be saved for the 408 stroker parts I want. Then I will rebuild it myself. Yes, I am a girl who doesn't mind getting dirty. I have a full shop in my garage including engine hoist and tools. Donations are always welcome for this project."

(from page 15 of the 1968 Collection) Another shot of Julie's Vermillion Red 1968 Mustang hardtop.

(from page 15 of the 1968 Collection) It has the deluxe interior. It has woodgrain accents on the dash, steering wheel, and door panels.

(from page 15 of the 1968 Collection) Julie sends us additional shots of her Vermillion Red 1968 Mustang hardtop. Julie tells us more, "I bought this Mustang in August of 2003. Since then, I have started the process of converting it into a Shelby Coupe Tribute to the Green Hornet (only it will be red and have a 408 Stroker engine). I haven't decided whether to go with the original C-4 transmission or whether to use an FMX in it yet. The interior is mostly done, including Carroll Shelby's signature on my dash. I was able to get that prior to his death. It means the world to me."

(from page 15 of the 1968 Collection) Right side view of Julie's Vermillion Red 1968 Mustang hardtop.

(from page 15 of the 1968 Collection) It has it's original 289ci V8 engine.

(from page 16 of the 1968 Collection) This Lime Gold 1968 Mustang GT California Special hardtop was our Attitude Of The Week for December 1st, 2007. The California Special options group included a Shelby style decklid with a spoiler, unique taillights, and a blacked-out grille with out Mustang identification. In the CS option the GT was purposely missing from the normal GT wheelcovers. A similar option package was available in Colorado called the High Country Special.

(from page 16 of the 1968 Collection) Lime Gold 1968 Mustang GT California Special hardtop, with "GT/SC" incorporated into the body side stripe and a script lettered "California Special" behind the rear tires. The door data plate reads 65A 2 door hardtop body style, I Lime Gold, Ford #2041-A exterior paint, 2G Ivy Gold standard bucket seats, 22C assembled on March 22, 1968, 71 ordered in Los Angeles, 2 2.79:1 rear axle ratio, and W C-4 Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission.
