(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) Grabber Blue 1971 Mustang Mach-1 fastback, front end view. The space program was all the rage in the early 1970s. These hood scoops were designed to look like the scoops on the NASA space craft which used the NACA (National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics) duct design. Mainly that triangular indentation forward of the hood opening.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) Bright Silver Blue 1971 T5 Mach-1 fastback with silver stripes and silver rocker panels. The T-5 was exported to Germany because the Mustang could not. T5 was the project name of the original mustang prototype. To export to Germany, new T5 fender emblems were added and any Mustang wording was removed.

(from page 12 of the 1971 Collection) Here is a close-up of the T-5 emblem. Bright Silver Blue is also a 1972 color.

(from page 13 of the 1971 Collection) This is a Medium Yellow Gold (E paint code) 1971 Mach-1 Mustang fastback. Medium Yellow Gold is one of three yellow paints offered on the 1971 Mustang. The others are Medium Bright Yellow and Grabber Yellow. The paint on this Mach-1 is original! It was sold new at Ashe County Motors in West Jefferson, North Carolina. Drivetrain consists of the M-code 351ci 4v V8 engine, C-6 Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission, and a 3.00 standard rear axle.

(from page 15 of the 1971 Collection) This Dusk Rose 1971 Mustang Mach 1 was originally purchased new by Lois Eminger. She worked for Ford and helped many Thunderbird and Mustang owners find original invoices. It was painted Dusk Rose to match her 1957 Dusk Rose Thunderbird. Paul Eminger, Lois's son, now owns this car. It was our Attitude Of The Week for the week starting July 18th, 2010. We met Paul and his car at the 2010 Mustang Club of America Grand National 30th Mustang car show in Bellevue, Washington. This year, Paul's car won first in its class of "Occasionally Driven".

Originally this car was white, but Lois Eminger had it painted her favorite 1957 Thunderbird Dusk Rose right away. Lois also bought a dusk rose 1967 Mustang hardtop which is now owned by her grandson.
