His wife had a hard time driving a straight drive. I had just turned 16 and gotten my 1st car - a 1965 2+2 fastback 289 auto. My brother's wife asked me if I would trade my car for the Shelby. I didn't hesitate and I've had it ever since. I had no ideal it was the 1st 68 GT-350 convertible made until Peter Disher from www.thecoralsnake.com did the an article on the car. Needless to say it's a special car to me." (2 photos of a 1968 Sunlit Gold Mustang Hardtop) Check out this Sunlit Gold 1968 Mustang hardtop. It's owned by David McDowall from Seattle, Washington. It has it's original 289ci V8 engine and an automatic transmission. David purchased it in Woodinville, Washington. He is the 3rd owner. He's wondering if its could possibly be an Oregon/Washington "Golden Nugget Northwest" dealer special. It doesn't have the DSO of 1111 which is on the other Golden Nugget cars. It does have the same paint and trim codes as the Golden Nugget Special but it was built one month before the earliest batch we have found. It may have been the inspiration for the special?

(12 photos of a 1968 Black Hills Gold Mustang Color Of The Month Hardtop) This 1968 Mustang hardtop was originally ordered by Galloways Garage, Inc of Newburgh, New York as a Sprint B with automatic transmission, special Black Hills Gold paint (Gold Metallic WT3822), and blacked out louvered hood. Two 1968 Mustang promotions come to mind: the Anniversary gold with black striped louvered hood Seattle area Golden Nugget Special, and the Black Hills Gold January Color of the Month rumored to be in the Denver area only. Both these special promotional cars were built in the San Jose plant (VIN 8R...) where this car was built in Metuchen, New Jersey (VIN 8T...); therefore, technically this car may be neither but it was ordered with the same paint as the January Color of the Month Black Hills Gold. During the restoration of this car, the wheels have been changed to later Magnum 500 wheels.
