Candy Apple Red 1968 Mustang GT High Country Special with a litte bit of front end damage. 250 of these cars were built by the San Jose plant for the Colorado area in 1968 and followed the tradition of GT upgrades and HCS side emblem found on the 1966 and 67 High Country Specials. The 1968 California Special was inspired by the three year successful run of High Country Specials. These HCS models featured a carburetor jetted for high altitude driving, side scoops, a factory fiberglass trunk lid with molded in spoiler, Shelby style taillights, namesake decals, horse delete grille, high-intensity fog/driving lights, hood pins and a stripe decal down each side of the vehicle.

Candyapple Red 1968 Mustang convertible with some of the GT options. It has the 195hp (at 4600rpm), 289 cubic inch, 2 barrel V8 engine - which was not available on the GT in 1968. Other options include wheel covers, fog lamps, metal rocker panels, gray side C stripes, power steering, power convertible top, and hood mounted signals.

Candy Apple Red 1968 Mustang hardtop that was owned by Robert Nix. It has the 200ci 6-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. Robert adds, "These are vintage photos of my first Mustang, purchased in September 1968. It was my car while I served in the US Army at Ft Knox, Kentucky from 1969 - 1972. The Ft Knox sticker can be seen on the left front bumper in this shot." Robert has a now.
