This 1968 Mustang still has it's original 428 Cobra Jet engine. Other things have changed since 1968. It was Lime Gold in color, with an automatic C-6 transmission and 3.50 rear end. It is now black with a 4.86 rear. The C-6 transmission is still there but add an 8-inch Coan converter with 5500 stall, manual reverse shift valve body, and a Winters shifter.

Jim Foster shares photos of his black 1968 Mustang. It has it's original 289ci V8 and an automatic transmission. Jim tells us, "This is my first car, 'DABEEST'. I have owned it since August 1976. It was my daily driver for the first 30 years. During the time I have had the car, I have put over 500,000 miles on the original engine and it has not been rebuilt. On May 26, 2006 it was totaled in an accident. I took the money I got from the insurance company, cashed out a 401K, and restored my car. Two of the following pictures are of the accident. Since the restoration, I have entered it into numerous car shows/events and have won numerous trophies/awards and several honorable mentions. It was also used in the music video 'The One that Got Away, by Katy Perry. 'DABEEST' can be found on the web."

This is a Black Hills Gold, South Dakota, local special edition Mustang convertible with special order gold paint, sport wheels, louvered hood, and 302ci V8 under the hood. We are calling it a "Special Dakota Days" Gold Mustang special model since one of the original newspaper advertisements referred to the cars in this way. Only twenty-five of these special models were ordered (5 hardtops and 20 convertibles).

Another photo of a Special Dakota Days Gold Mustang convertible with special order paint, sport wheels, and louvered hood. The special order paint name of "Black Hills Gold" makes sense since this is a South Dakota territorial special edition Mustang.

The convertible roof color is white. The special order paint is much brighter than the standard Sunlit Gold offered in 1968.
