Medium Charcoal 1985 Mustang GT convertible owned by site visitor Jerry. Under the hood is a 302ci V8 engine. Looks like a shark with the quarter glass rolled up.

1985 Mustang hatchback owned by Jody Leatherman from New Boston, Texas. Jody tells us more,
"It was found in a pasture. I paid 50 bucks for her. I removed the 4 cylinder 4 speed and put in a 302 bored with long tube Blackjack headers dumped just in front of rear axle from 18 cherrybombs (it sounds good once throttle is pushed) and paired with a C4 automatic. The interior donated from a 89 GT, front bumper custom made using bumper for a 91. The only parts I ain't got to touch yet are rear quarter panels. The car was a father son project before he grew up and moved. Now its my weekend toy. Still trying to decide the final color scheme. Taking all ideas offered. I am currently looking at the Shadow Gray with flat black striping."

"It has 87000 original miles. I am the second owner. It's all original except for 17 inch wheels and tires, air adjustable rear shocks, 5% window tint, MSD cap and rotor, new weatherstripping, purple hornie glass packs ,and blue ford racing spark plug wires. Currently at the body shop being painted Ford Deep Impact
Blue."

This is the 5.0L V8 EFI engine originally rated at 175 horsepower with the automatic transmission. The owner added the MSD distributor cap and blue wires.

"The car was purchased new from Cal Worthington Ford. We have owned it ever since. As you can tell I am a stock nut and did a lot of research before deciding to restore her in full original configuration. I found out that only 29 hatchbacks where painted color code 4M in 1985 - add to that the limited production of 'T-roof' cars and I am certain this is a one of vehicle. Like Bonnie and Clyde thanked Ford for such an awesome vehicle, I will have to do the same. This vehicle has never left us dead anywhere. At times her gallop was not what it should have been but she always made it home. "

Medium Charcoal 1985 Mustang SVO hatchback with a 5 speed manual transmission and a turbo, 4-cylinder, 2.3 liter SVO engine. The Ford Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) group was started on the 1980 Mustangs to to help interested race car drivers build up competition versions of the Mustang, create a kits of bolt-on parts that could be purchased by average Mustang owners to modify their street cars, and create a series of specialty GT racing cars.

The cover of the 1985 Ford Mustang Promotional booklet shows a Silver Mustang GT. In 1985 the L series Mustang was dropped making the LX the base with the GT and SVO as upgrades. Just as in the previous 2 years, the tires on all models were increased in size again. The grille was changed to match more with the SVO but with an open slit at the bottom. All Mustangs also had a front air dam with four rectangular holes in the center. GT's received integrated fog lamps and the SVO received more flush headlamps. The tail lights on all models were full width with only an opening for the license plate.

This page of the 1985 Ford Mustang Promotional brochure says the Mustang GT and SVO feature power-assisted rack and pinion steering with a constant ratio design (15:1) tat provides easier maneuverability and an excellent feel of the road.
