(5 photos of a 1969 Winter Blue Mach 1 Mustang Fastback) Winter Blue 1969 Mustang Mach 1 with 360hp (at 5400rpm), 428 cubic inch, Super Cobra Jet V8 engine with Ram Air induction, a hardened steel cast crankshaft, special "LeMans" connection rods, and special balancing for drag racing. Hot Rod magazine called the Cobra Jet "the fastest running pure stock in the history of man." Only one engine was more powerful in 1969 and that was the 375hp (at 5200rpm), 429 cubic inch V8 engine for the Boss option. 1969 was the first and only early year the Mustang came with four headlights.

(7 photos of a 1969 Poppy Green Mach 1 Rainbow Of Colors / Gas Ronda Special Mustang Fastback) Peter Manson's restored Poppy Green, 1969, Rainbow of Colors, Super Cobra Jet, Mach 1 fastback was our Attitude of the Week for March 8th, 2008. This amazing Mach 1 was one of 10 ordered by Russ Davis Ford of Covina California to promote his dealership and most likely his racing cars. We actually have its sister on our site. Peter has done extensive research as well as restoration on his car. The Rainbow of Colors was a west coast 1968-69 sales promotion which offered new Mustang owners many sporty upgrades as well as one of 13 special order bright colors. Many of these cars were base models, but a few; like Peter's; were higher end models. New information on Russ Davis shows that this special order may have also been for a Gas Ronda racing promotion since the famous Cobra Jet racer was promoted by Russ Davis.

(6 photos of a 1969 Blue Mach 1 Mustang Fastback) This 1969 Mach 1 Mustang fastback was driven by drag racer, Jim McCormick. He set many NHRA records for the Fastest Factory Street Stock with this car. It ran 10 second quarter miles. The car still has the original engine and running gear used to set those records.

Only one engine offering was larger, the Boss 375hp, 429ci V8. The door data tag on this car reads 63C for the Mach 1 fastback body style, Y5 Indian Fire Red - Ford #3202-A exterior paint, 3W white Clarion knit vinyl Mach 1 high bucket seats, 09M assembled on December 9th 1968, 65 order in Oklahoma area, 6 3.00:1 ratio standard rear axle, U C-6 Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission.

(5 photos of a 1969 Candy Apple Red Mach 1 Mustang Fastback) Candy Apple Red 1969 Mach 1 Mustang fastback owned by Frank Hoover from Levittown, Pennsylvania. This was our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting January 23, 2011. It's an original R-code 428ci Cobra Jet car. Frank tells us more, "I bought this car in 2001. Originally I wanted a red 1968 428 fastback (which are hard to find). I was ready to buy one in Ohio from a dealer but by the time I got there the car was already sold. Two weeks later I found out about this Mach 1. I knew when I saw it on the showroom floor I wanted it. It was delivered two weeks later and I have been enjoying it ever since. This is an R-code 1969 Candy Apple Red 428CJ 4-speed shaker car. It has manual steering but it has power brakes which is needed - it is easy to spin this car sideways with the power it has. I have driven to car shows and even attended the Mustang Club of America shows and took Silver in the Concourse Class as well as Best Of Show in many local shows."

(12 photos of a 1969 Indian Fire Red Mach 1 Mustang Fastback) Indian Fire Red 1969 Mustang Mach 1 fastback with a 360hp (at 5400rpm), 428ci, 4 barrel, Ram Air induction V8 engine (Drag Pack option); white interior; and Magnum 500 rims, 15 x 7 up front and 15 x 8 in the rear with Goodyear Eagle tires. The Mach 1 in 1969 came standard with a matte black hood, hood scoop (only functional with the SCJ Ram Air Drag Pack engine), exposed NASCAR-style hood lock pins (could be deleted), a spoiler (at extra cost), reflective side and rear stripes, color-keyed sport mirrors, special handling suspension, and chrome exhaust tips.

(10 photos of a 1969 Winter Blue Mustang Grande Hardtop) This is a Winter Blue 1969 Mustang Grande with Magnum 500 wheels, hood scoop, hood pins, hood mounted tachometer, pin stripes, black vinyl roof, and inboard highbeam headlights. We caught up with this Mustang at the Bellevue Washington Mustang Roundup show in 2011.
